The Role
The Analytics team at AHADI is looking for experienced epidemiologists, biostatisticians, or data scientists with strong quantitative and/or public health skills and an interest in using analytics to support priority-setting and decision-making in countries with high malaria burden. This position will entail analyzing malaria data in the context of national malaria programs’ strategic planning and prioritization processes (subnational tailoring of malaria interventions, SNT). One position is available in each of Ghana, Guinea, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, and Togo.
We are looking for a scientist with strong coding skills, a keen curiosity, a proactive approach to solving problems, and excellent oral and written communication. Previous experience with public health data is not required if the applicant can demonstrate a strong track record of learning new skills.
AHADI’s analytics team analyzes field, trial, survey, and routine health system data; develops, configures, calibrates, and applies disease transmission and geospatial models; and designs and builds new data and analytics solutions to answer questions aimed at informing public health decision-making. The team supports training, educational, and skills development initiatives offered by AHADI or our partners and is actively engaged with the broader health analytics community.

Responsibilities
We seek an SNT Analyst to work with the AHADI team and its partners to analyze public health data using multiple quantitative methods to support priority-setting and analysis needs of the countries we serve. As the SNT Analyst will be performing a variety of tasks in the data, analysis, and policy translation pipeline, with diverse data sources, we expect the SNT Analyst to come with a strong quantitative background and then acquire additional competencies during the consultancy under the supervision of the AHADI team.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Oversees data assembly together with AHADI and the SNT focal person in the national malaria program (NMP)
- Supports the NMP in responding to data collection, review, validation, and analysis needs to inform the SNT process
- Works with AHADI, WHO and other analytical partners on the stratification and tailoring of interventions
- Ensures analyses are reproducible and well-documented
- Participates in all SNT-related convenings to ensure a transparent review of analytical products and
- Supports the SNT team organizationally and provides facilitation support where needed
- Communicates analysis products and coordinates feedback from multiple groups engaged in the SNT process
- Contributes to continuous capacity strengthening by jointly developing workflows, training NMP analysts, and documenting methods for reuse
Minimum qualifications
- Master of Epidemiology, Public Health, Data Science, Biostatistics, or similar, with a strong analytical background. A PhD in a relevant discipline is considered an advantage
- Resident of an AHADI partner country (Ghana, Guinea, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo)
- Able to devote full-time effort during the period of the consultancy
- Experience with routine/programmatic and/or geospatial data collection, management, and analysis
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in malaria or other vector-borne diseases
- Experience working with National Malaria Control Programs, surveillance or monitoring and evaluation units within the Ministry of Health
- Experience in statistical analysis, including statistical tests and basic regressions
- Experience applying geospatial or statistical methods to support programmatic decision-making
- Familiarity with reproducible and collaborative workflows, including use of version control and structured coding practices
- Experience building capacity through training, documentation, and joint analysis with national program staff
Minimum competencies
- Professional proficiency in English or French, depending on duty station
- Proficiency in data manipulation
- Proficiency in at least one data analysis language (R or Stata)
- Ability to learn quickly and to learn by doing
- Clear and effective communication of quantitative work to non-experts
- Ability to deliver on multiple priorities and programs of work with diverse methodological approaches
- Ability to work occasional extended hours to meet a deadline
- Ability to work productively as part of a team as well as independently drive a program of work to completion
- Ability to effectively deliver outputs and collaborate with team members in a remote, distributed working environment
Preferred competencies
- Professional proficiency in English
- Proficiency in the official local language of the stationed country
- Good knowledge of database management systems (MS Access, DHIS2)
- Proficiency in data visualization, including making maps
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with national program staff and stakeholders during workshops and convenings
